“আগামীকাল তোমাকে ছেড়ে দেওয়া হবে।”

এই কথাটি প্রতিদিনই এক কয়েদিকে বলা হতো। সে বিশ্বাস করত। এই বিশ্বাসই তাকে জেলখানার ঠাণ্ডা দেওয়াল, নীরবতা আর একাকীত্ব সহ্য করতে সাহায্য করত। প্রতিটি নতুন সকাল মনে হতো, যেন মুক্তির একটি চাবি ঘুরছে।

অনেক বছর পর, একদিন সেই প্রতিশ্রুতি পূরণ হলো। জেলের দরজা খুলে গেল। সে বাইরে পা রাখলো—আর সঙ্গে সঙ্গে মারা গেল।

কিন্তু ধৈর্য যোগ করলে, আশা এক ধরনের নীরব শক্তিতে রূপান্তরিত হয়। একটি আলো, একটি গভীর নিঃশ্বাস, এমন একটি বিশ্বাস — যা ফলাফলের উপর নয়, বরং যাত্রার উপর নির্ভর করে।
